The market is simply awash with speculation and just about anyone who is anyone wants to buy an ipad — but the real question we have to ask is this: why would you want to own one? What is it about the iPad 2 which makes it a standout device and so much superior to the first generation iPad? Do you even need an iPad if you already own a Laptop or even a smartphone?
The first thing that must be cleared up is that no, you probaby don’t need an iPad — in my opinion, an iPad is as much a fashion statement, or a portable media device, as it is anything else. Sure, the iPad is functional and sure, it offers a good user experience, but to be honest, in terms of real, essential or day to day applications, it falls a bit short.
For example, if you plan on using a portable device like a smartphone, iPad or laptop for performing essential business tasks like Word Processing or spreadsheet generation on the go, then you will want to opt for a laptop (Laptops are pretty much built for these purposes). However, if you want a device which is light, portable and amenable to heavy customisation, then the iPad is likely the way to go.
One of the main drawbacks to using the iPad 2 for daily usage however is the lack of storage space on the device — at the high-end, you’re given just 64GB of storage space, far less than you would be given if you purchased a modern laptop (and it’sprobably double the price for an iPad, too).
