How to Connect to a Wireless Access Point with a Notebook

February 27th, 2011

Accessing a wireless access point, wireless router or wireless hotspot is simple and can be accomplished by anyone. Assuming that you already have a notebook, you will either need to make use of an integrated or external device. If your laptop is fairly new then it will probably have available Wi-Fi hardware pre-integrated. If it is older than 2004, it may be necessary for you to purchase a Wi-Fi USB device. As a Wi-Fi card for laptop computer systems can not operate on its own, it will need to connect to a wireless hotspot. This is usually a shared internet connection via a wireless router which is connected to a fixed internet ADSL connection.
